Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şule Yücelbaş, a faculty member of the Department of Computer Engineering, visited the School of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Zaragoza, one of Spain’s long-established higher education institutions founded in 1542, within the scope of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Programme.
During the visit to the University of Zaragoza, which stands out for its international research performance, academic meetings were held with the host faculty member, Prof. Dr. Andrés E. Sotelo Mieg. His ongoing research activities and laboratory infrastructure were examined on site, while interdisciplinary research opportunities involving the analysis of experimental laboratory data using artificial intelligence and machine learning methods were explored. Particular attention was given to integrating material characterization and laboratory data with AI-based methods, as well as to developing joint research ideas in data analytics, predictive modelling and intelligent decision-support systems.
The meetings also addressed potential joint research projects, international scientific publications, student and academic staff mobility opportunities under Erasmus+ and sustainable academic collaboration between the two universities. The visit marked an important step towards developing interdisciplinary research that brings together engineering sciences and artificial intelligence and strengthening international academic cooperation.
